Jared Kaltwasser is a journalist-turned-educator who is passionate about helping students learn the tools of inquiry and citizenship.
He spent 11 years learning the ins and outs of local and state government, as a community news reporter and later a statehouse correspondent for a business journal. He became the lead editor for a personal finance and practice management news website for physicians.
Mr. K’s love of learning and his ability to translate difficult concepts into easily understandable prose made him an award-winning journalist. However, he could never quite shake the feeling that his true calling was in the classroom.
In September 2016, he was given the chance to make his dream come true, as a Social Studies teacher at the Dr. Charles E. Brimm Medical Arts High School, a public magnet school that is part of the Camden City School District.
Mr. K’s professional background gives him a unique skill set to leverage in the classroom, but his instruction is underpinned by tried-and-true pedagogical techniques. He has trained at Monmouth University in subjects such as differentiated instruction and 21st Century Learning, among others. He is a Google Certified Educator and is part of National Geographic’s Spring 2017 educator certification cohort.
