Intro to E-Learning

This blog post is meant as a tentative first step into this new world of e-learning. This week, classes will resume at Harrisburg South Middle School, in a new online format. I wanted to share a quick update to help you (hopefully) wrap your mind around what learning will look like for the next bit of time.

What we’ve been up to…

Last week ended up being a long spring break, but the school district’s leaders spent that time trying to figure out how exactly to transition our school into an online-only format. We’ve missed seeing you guys every day, and we’re looking forward to resuming classes, even if that only means joining together through technology

What’s coming next…

Our new e-learning curriculum will officially start on Wednesday, and it will continue until the state’s leaders decide it’s safe to return to regular classes. You should be hearing from district and school leaders with a lot of information about how things will roll out. I don’t want to repeat all of that, so let me just say that you should check your email and check Google Classroom starting on Wednesday.

Look forward, not backward…

We’re entering a new world of e-learning, and we are mostly going to treat it like a clean break. Assignments on ICU will still need to be completed, but if you’re nervous about an old assignment that is not on ICU, don’t worry about it.  Treat Wednesday almost as if it were the start of a brand new school year. Look forward!

Keep in touch!

Just because we can’t meet in person doesn’t mean I don’t want to hear from you! You can email me at, you can leave comments in Google Classroom, and you can also sign up for updates on Remind. Check out the Contact Me section of this site for more information.

Parents: One more thing…

You can sign up for a parent account on Google Classroom, which will allow you to follow along with your son or daughter’s assignments, deadlines, and grades. Check your email between now and Wednesday for a signup link. If you don’t get one, let me know!

I’m looking forward to learning with you as we continue on this journey!
